The Festival "Drevo Rodu Kobzarskoho" is an experimental, mostly musical festival which although centers around the kobzar tradition, it also includes other folkloric musical traditions, and old world music, both Ukrainian and international. Modern music which has associations to the kobzar tradition is also included. The festival takes place on the "Kobzarskiy Tabir" territory, in the small village of Kryachkivka. The official festival lasts three days in late July, but usually extends about a week. There are no stages or microphones, usually, and no formal order of performances. Each musician or ensemble chooses when, where, what, and with whom to perform. Besides music, the festival is often frequented by artists, actors, potters, and others whose arts are also included in the program. The festival strives to create the perfect atmosphere for experiencing old world, and village folk music. The surroundings are natural and authentic. The divisional line between performer and listener are erased, by a program where everyone participates. The festival is one for musicians and creative sorts themselves. Most everyone usually plays, sings, or dances. Each year unique ensembles are invited to participate, such as the "Lviv Music Guild", the "Kyiv Kobzar Guild", "Buttya", "Troye Zillya", "Drevo" and folk virtuosos such as Serhih Okhymchuk, Oleksiy Kabanov, Taras Sylenko, Julian Kytasty, Andriy Hornjatkevyc and Brian Cherwick.
